Our research

In working with partners in the GLAM sector, we are exploring how history is understood and communicated outside the academy.

Our research explores questions like how family historians use their own research to challenge existing understandings of the past, and how museums and heritage sites present sensitive, difficult and controversial stories.

We work with a huge range of external partners locally and globally, including many galleries, archives, museums, and libraries in the city of Leeds, such as Leeds Local and Family History Library and the Thackray Medical Museum.
